Public Health Field Worker
Location: New Orleans, LA
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/month
Compensation: Hourly or stipend-based (based on funding and experience)
Position Overview
Below Sea Level Aid is seeking a Public Health Field Worker to assist with our rapid HIV/STI testing and linkage-to-care program. This role supports community-based testing events, outreach efforts, and follow-up coordination for individuals receiving services through our health programming.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about harm reduction, community health, and reducing barriers to care in the South.
Key Responsibilities
Community Health & Testing Support
- Assist with setup and breakdown of rapid HIV/STI testing events
- Support client intake, consent, and basic data collection processes
- Assist with outreach in community settings to promote testing services
Qualifications
- Strong interest in public health, harm reduction, or community health work
- Comfortable working in community-based and non-clinical settings
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
- Reliable transportation for outreach and event participation
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in public health, peer outreach, harm reduction, or clinic support roles
- Familiarity with HIV/STI prevention, sexual health education, or case management
- Lived experience aligned with communities most impacted by health disparities
Additional Information
This is a supplemental, low-hour role intended to support existing programming rather than serve as a primary job. It is best suited for someone seeking meaningful, flexible community-based work with minimal time commitment.
